We GET IT, WE ARE LIVING IT.
For those of you who have found this site, we urge you to help Noah. Imagine being told that your child has Leukemia! Just the word Leukemia will send terror through your heart. Finding out that you child has CANCER will drop even the strongest parents to their knees. WE KNOW. We have been there. Leukemia is a battle a child will battle the rest of their lives and as the parent of a child with Leukemia you will forever worry like no one else can understand.
As Noah's parents we both remember, so very clearly, when we found out about his diagnosis. The range of emotions are simply indescribable, from heartache to heartbreak, from panic to fear and none of that could be shown to our precious child Noah. We were so unprepared for this. Our world came crashing down in a very big way and in a blink of an eye! Nothing would ever be the same.
We were so very fortunate in many ways.
Our family pediatrician, whom we have used for nearly 15 years was spectacular. He recognized the small signs and listened to mom. He had blood work done and wasted no time in sending us to the hospital for treatment. Noah began cancer treatment the next day and we began our education about the two plus year program he would have to endure.
Our biggest saving grace was Noah.
Noah was only 6 years old when he was diagnosed. He had the fortitude of a 30 year old man. He was told everything that was happening and what was expected and he willingly did everything that was asked of him. More than that, he, not only did what he was expected to do, but he wanted to make videos to tell his friends and family he was OK. His fear that others would be worried about him made him a superstar and quickly became our motivational tool. We commented that he was simply amazing and that was how his website was born. TheAmazingNoah.com.
A Star is Born
As a way to inform friends and family, Mom created a YouTube channel for him called NoahsHeroes. We would tell him that we need him to do a video to tell his fans how he is doing. That became Noah's motivation to tell his story. As a way to ease Noah's treatment day jitters mom would have him dance in the elevator and in the halls before his procedures. She would record them and post them on YouTube for him. Eventually his oncology team would dance with him. He also began to do food reviews on the food he would eat while in the hospital. As time went on his videos grew and grew and he began to do food reviews on all sorts of things from spicy foods to candy's and more. He also began to do videos on fun experiments to updates he has kept thousands of people informed of his journey from the start.
Noah's desire to help
Noah is simply an amazing young man with an unbelievably compassionate heart. His desire to make sure that his friends and family and YouTube Fans knew that he was OK was always on his mind. During his clinic visits and the in-patient stays in the hospital he as always bothered by the crying and sometimes screams from other children in other rooms. Many times he would ask if he could give them something of his to make them feel better. His desire to make personal sacrifices to help others feel better would often bring us to tears. Knowing what this poor little boy was enduring and yet wanting to help others was a spirit totally uncommon in today's world.
